Black V: Dark Fashion Event | 29 May | 6-9 PM

Dark + Lovely: Black V Fashion Show

On Saturday night, a select group of local designers darkened the doors of Press Club for a runway show focused on fashion’s favorite hue: black.

A fitting follow-up to the White Party held earlier this year, the Black V show put on by Halo Republic impressed not only with the caliber and quality of the designs from San Francisco’s Bacca Da Silva, Dcepcion, Alexandria von Bromssen and others, but with a slick crowd dressed almost exclusively in black, a small army of photographers and runway created using the better part of the wood-paneled wine tasting venue’s lower level.

In front of a crowd at least three people deep hovering behind a 40-seat VIP section, models done up with black-rimmed eyes and sequined brows presented looks for both men and women. Standouts included a diaphanous, multi-paneled floor-length gown by Bacca Da Silva, Dcepcion’s polished take on men’s shorts, inventive accessories such as earrings that connect underneath the wearer’s chin by Kaatje Design worn atop the hard-edged and somewhat futuristic looks of Alexandria von Bromssen, a zip-front men’s sweater by Tamo Design, mixed metal jewelry by Mike SG and menswear-inspired cropped women’s jackets by Terrance Yu. --Lorraine Sanders
